Training

Most teams train once a week at the Queenspark School courts.  Your coach will let you know the day and time for your team’s training.  We ask that players and their families support your coaches in any way you can, the coaches spend a lot of their own time preparing training, making sure all the players get their fair share of time on the court, learning drills and ways to make training more fun, and much more.

Please make sure your child attends practice even if it is cold, netball is a winter game and they will be playing in the cold so need to practise in the cold also. Make sure your child is at the game in time to warm up with the team at the time their coach has asked them to be there. If your child is unable to make a game or practice, give the coach as much notice as possible as this can change the whole practice the coach has planned if one person is missing.

Umpiring

Up to & including Yr6 - It is encouraged that a willing parent steps up to act as the umpire to allow the coach to focus on the game. Free training sessions and information are supplied by CNC, additional training course fees will be covered by Parklands United Sports Club as required.

Year 7 upwards CNC provided whistlers/umpires may be provided should numbers allow - Parklands United supports any players, parents or siblings to register as part of the whistler / umpire training programmes offered by Christchurch Netball.

All senior teams must provide one umpire per week to umpire a game that is not their own. This will be allocated by Christchurch Netball Centre and is generally on the same day a team plays, but sometimes it can differ.

If available, there are a number of club umpires - weekly fees of $15-25 (dependent upon age group) are paid directly by the team on game day. On days a Christchurch Netball or Parklands United club umpire cannot make the game either the coach or a parent is expected to umpire the game.
